The gas detection system, i.e. the system for reporting the presence of flammable gases and steam is a set of functionally connected and non-transferable elements (measuring head, control panel, signaling devices, power supply, etc.) that are used to detect and report the presence of flammable gases and steam in a pre-selected area . They can act independently or together with devices and installations to prevent the leakage of dangerous concentrations of flammable gases and steam.

The correctness of the gas detection system is checked by the first test and periodic tests.

The first test is a correctness check that is performed before the technical inspection of the newly constructed building (facility) or after the reconstruction of the system.

Periodic testing is a correctness check that is performed periodically, at prescribed time intervals after the first test. The law on fire protection stipulates that the correctness of the mentioned installations must be checked periodically at least once a year by an authorized legal entity, in accordance with technical standards, norms and manufacturer's instructions
